Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a GP referral to book an MSK & Sports Podiatry appointment?
No. You can self-refer directly. A GP referral is not required.
What kinds of problems can MSK & Sports Podiatry help with?
This service is suitable for a wide range of foot, ankle and lower-limb problems, including heel pain, Achilles pain, forefoot pain, running injuries and other biomechanical or overuse conditions.
What is the difference between MSK podiatry and routine chiropody?
Routine chiropody focuses on common foot care problems such as corns, callus and nails. MSK & Sports Podiatry focuses on pain, injury, movement and biomechanics affecting the foot, ankle and lower limb.
Will I get treatment at the first appointment?
In many cases, yes. Your first appointment includes assessment and diagnosis, and where appropriate we may begin treatment, provide exercises or advice, or recommend the next best step straight away.
How many appointments will I need?
That depends on your condition, goals and how long the problem has been present. Some patients improve quickly, while others need a short course of treatment and rehabilitation.
Do you offer gait analysis or orthoses if needed?
Yes. Where clinically appropriate, your treatment plan may include gait analysis, orthoses or other specialist services. These are recommended only when they are likely to help.
